The PTI works to improve the quality of education for children in state schools in England and Wales.
We believe that all teachers should have access to high-quality professional development. We need your support to reach more state school teachers across England and Wales.
“From Cornwall in the South-West to County Durham in the North-East, we support Britain’s teachers – each of whom is in a unique position to ensure that every young person receives a great education and access to equal opportunity. Teachers touch everyone’s lives and everyone understands the impact a great teacher can have.”
- Dr Hugh Rayment-Pickard MBE, Co-Director, the PTI
Our mission - The PTI is dedicated to ensuring an outstanding education for every child delivered by exceptional teachers in all schools.
What we do - We achieve this by giving teachers in hard-pressed state schools access to exceptional, high quality training programmes.
What we achieve - Our programmes had a notable effect last year, benefiting 3,900 teachers and shaping the lives of 340,000 pupils.
The PTI is essential because… • Not every child receives a rich educational experience, provided by an inspiring and knowledgeable teacher. • The lack of high-quality support for teachers leads to young people not receiving the inspirational teaching they need for success. • Uninspiring and unengaging lessons are detrimental to young people’s development and create barriers to the highest quality teaching they need. • Teachers feel undervalued and lacking in support. This has resulted in the alarming rate of teacher attrition within just a few years. It has also deterred potential educators from joining the profession, exacerbating a nationwide recruitment crisis.Help us reach more teachers and their pupils
