The PTI wish to celebrate schools that share our values; we believe long-term commitment to embedding The PTI philosophy into educational practice creates real impact. We want to recognise the courage and initiative of schools who empower inspirational teaching and subject specific pedagogy.
"Having been a Primary School Headteacher for over 10 years, I have worked in partnership with The PTI throughout my time in schools based in East London, and currently Loughborough. The educational landscape is dynamic with fresh challenges, initiatives, and perceived barriers arising all too often. School leaders, teachers and educational institutions are sometimes undervalued, reflecting in challenges seen with staff recruitment and retention, pay and progression, Ofsted and performance measures.
However, this isn’t the reality I see or feel on a daily basis, and The PTI resonates with an ethos of Relentless Optimism. Having led and taught in some of the most deprived and challenging catchment areas of London and the East Midlands, I am passionate about whole team engagement in delivering a rich and vibrant curriculum that sparks pupils' awe and wonder at the world around them. Inclusion and equitable quality education for all is at the heart of my school ethos.
Working with The PTI over the past 10 years has given me, first and foremost, inspiration and enthusiasm which has then impacted the staff, pupils, and also the wider community that I serve. For me, the answers to the perceived barriers in my community are obvious, high quality, subject specific professional development, that inspires us all and therefore having a knock on effect to the pupils and the community. The PTI has a powerful, tested, and proven track record of supporting educators in this regard.
I started my PTI journey back in 2014, at the very first Primary Heads residential. The emphasis being on practical engagement with high quality ideas for the classroom (hugging trees to measure circumference and height, deducing age of trees) delivered by professionals in their specific field of expertise, to writing research inspired evidenced based project reports, I quickly realised partnership with The PTI will provide the fuel to sustain my vocational career.
I have now seen, and been a part of, the expansion of the Primary offer over the past 5 years, for Primary Hubs to now deliver significant CPD for all school-based staff working in collaboration in local areas. The network of high quality, inspirational speakers provided by The PTI has enabled the Loughborough and Coalville Hub to; start projects with the local Loughborough University Athletics department, in taking part in the international season opener competition; start a collaborative Choir, resulting from our Music focussed day with staff from EYFS to KS5; and enhanced curriculum lessons with high quality resources accessed through subject association affiliations and direct input. The strength of being part of a Hub is the perfect balance of stretching the mind and supporting it with practical and inspirational sessions. These all inspire high stakes accountability and buck the trend of data focussed CPD that is all too often present, instead we are driving up lasting standards by investing in the most precious of resources… staff expertise."
